LSAT Inbox — August 21, 2024

Welcome to the LSAT Inbox! This is a blog series that answers frequently asked questions about the LSAT®. We encourage you to check back often for answers to more questions you may have as you prepare for the test.

I listed my date, time, and modality during the registration process. Do I still need to schedule my test?

Yes, the information you provided during your registration process recorded your preferences only. LSAC and Prometric use this information to determine space availability and proctor needs for the upcoming test. However, keep in mind that your test was not scheduled at that time. You must still schedule your test once scheduling opens for each administration.

Where do I find my eligibility number?

Once you’re registered for an LSAT administration, you will be able to refer to it within your LSAC JD Account. Just log in and navigate to LSAT/The LSAT/LSAT Status: View All LSAT information to locate your eligibility number.

How do I schedule my test?

When registration opens for your administration, you have two options to schedule your test. You can access Prometric’s ProScheduler tool from your LSAC JD Account or go directly to the ProScheduler tool provided that you have your eligibility number in hand.

To schedule from your LSAC JD Account, please follow the steps below:

  1. Visit the LSAT Status page.
  2. Follow the links to schedule within your eligible testing modality and window.
  3. You will be redirected to Prometric’s ProScheduler tool.
  4. Agree to Prometric’s Personal Data Privacy Disclosure & Consent form.
  5. If you’re scheduling to take the LSAT in the online, live remote-proctored environment, select your testing location, time zone, and preferred test date. If you’re scheduling to take the LSAT in person at a Prometric test center, enter your physical address and preferred test date.
  6. Select your desired appointment time, validate your demographics, and confirm your appointment.
  7. You will receive a confirmation email from Prometric. Additionally, you can confirm the details of your testing appointment by visiting LSAT Status page of your LSAC JD Account.

To schedule directly on Prometric’s ProScheduler tool, please follow these steps below:

  1. Go to https://proscheduler.prometric.com/ External link opens in new browser window and click the “Schedule” tile.
  2. Select “Law School Admission Council” as the Test Sponsor.
  3. Select “Law School Admission Test” as the Program. (If you have an approved accommodation to take a paper-and-pencil version of the LSAT, select “Law School Admission Test - Paper” instead.)
  4. Agree to Prometric’s Personal Data Privacy Disclosure & Consent form.
  5. Enter your eligibility number and the first four characters of your last name. You can find your eligibility number in your LSAC JD Account on the LSAT Status page under LSAT Status.
  6. If you’re scheduling to take the LSAT in the online, live remote-proctored environment, select your testing location time zone and preferred test date. If you’re scheduling to take the LSAT in person at a Prometric test center, enter your physical address and preferred test date. (If you have accommodations requiring a specific modality, you must schedule in that modality.)
  7. Select your desired appointment time, validate your demographics, and confirm your appointment.
  8. You will receive a confirmation email. Additionally, you can confirm the details of your testing appointment by visiting the LSAT Status page in LSAC JD Account.

What are the time frames for scheduling my test?

If you’re opting to take the LSAT at a test center, Prometric test centers are generally open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time. All test centers will have their hours of operation and available testing slots on the ProScheduler tool. If you prefer to test remotely, you may select your testing time anywhere from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET on the day in which you wish to test. Please be mindful of your time zone and ensure that it is listed correctly when scheduling your test.

What should I do if I have trouble scheduling my test?

Due to a high volume of test takers, scheduling for each LSAT administration is currently being offered on a staggered schedule. If you’re encountering an issue, make sure that you’re accessing the ProScheduler tool when scheduling for your preferred day, time, and modality is open. If you experience any issues with scheduling, please contact Prometric directly at 1.800.350.5517. If you have approved testing accommodations and need assistance, you can contact Prometric at 1.800.967.1139, and use Option 4.

My accommodations request is still under review. Should I schedule, or should I wait for my approval to be finalized?

If you have submitted an accommodation request and it is still being reviewed, you will be able to schedule your test in the eligible mode based on your requested accommodation. Be advised that certain accommodations are best administered in a remote modality while others are best administered in a test center modality. Should your eligible testing mode change once your accommodation request has been processed, you will be contacted by an LSAC and/or Prometric representative with further information regarding scheduling.
