Plus, Guided Journey for Law Schools

The Evolution of LSAC’s Plus Program

You may be familiar with LSAC’s PLUS program which, for more than two decades, has served thousands of individuals interested in making a difference through law. Formerly delivered in a residential format during the summer months via a limited number of host law schools, the program has evolved into Plus, Guided Journey, a 14-month virtual program that offers LSAC member law schools expanded opportunities to engage with and invest in aspiring law students.

Plus, Guided Journey supports selected scholars at each step of the law school application journey from LSAT preparation to building application materials, learning about law school, and making decisions about their future, all while honing their individual strengths and cultivating a deep sense of community.

Plus’s evolution has enabled us to expand access to serve even more individuals who want to pursue law but face structural barriers or other systemic challenges to accomplishing their goals, in turn allowing us to increase opportunities for member law school involvement in this rewarding program.

Our Scholars

The group consisted of: 59% first-generation college students, 30% students who started at a community college, 53% individuals who received public assistance before age 18

Because Plus, Guided Journey is a virtual program, it enables Plus scholars to participate fully regardless of where they are located. Plus scholars are highly engaged throughout the duration of the program, participating in weekly activities and assignments. Each cohort is comprised of individuals who are planning to apply to law school during the upcoming application cycle. Our inaugural cohort in 2024 was comprised of 450 scholars, representing 245 different undergraduate institutions.

How Your School Can Participate

LSAC member schools play an important role in the success of Plus, Guided Journey, and we are always happy to connect with schools that would like to engage with the program. There are different ways to get involved, from engaging in live sessions with scholars to participating in pre-recorded events that shape our scholar’s journeys. Some of the key ways law school professionals participate is through panels, discussions, office hours, workshops, and mock law school classes. We also have instruction opportunities for those wanting to engage more deeply in the material with scholars.
