JD Refunds

All receipt deadlines are by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (ET).

LSAT Refunds

Once you register for the LSAT, you can request a full refund of the registration fee through your test’s full refund deadline. (Generally, the full refund deadline is the same as the test’s registration deadline.)

You can submit your refund request through the LSAT Status page of your online account. Once your refund request is processed, you will no longer be registered to take the test.

View deadlines for each upcoming LSAT administration

Please note:

  • If, after the refund deadline has passed, you find you are unable to take the LSAT, please withdraw your registration by 11:59 p.m. ET, the day before you are scheduled to test. Withdrawing your registration will prevent an absentee notation from appearing on your LSAC file, but you will not receive a refund. (If you did not schedule a testing time through Prometric by your administration’s scheduling deadline, your registration will be automatically withdrawn, without a refund.)
  • If you registered for the test using a fee waiver or coupon, and request a refund during one of the eligible refund periods, your fee waiver/coupon will be returned to your account once your refund request is processed. You will then be able to use your fee waiver or coupon to register for a future test.
  • The following auxiliary LSAT fees are nonrefundable: Test Date Change, LSAT Score Preview, Score Audit.

CAS Refunds

LSAC will no longer offer refunds for Credential Assembly Service (CAS) fees as of May 20, 2024.

LawReady Refunds

You may receive a full refund of the $99 LawReady registration fee if it is requested within 30 days of your LawReady program start date and you have not accessed the LawReady portal. To request a refund, please email LSACinfo@LSAC.org.

Credit Card Chargebacks, Stop Payments, and Returned Checks

  • If you initiate a credit card chargeback, a reporting hold will be placed on your file. The reporting hold will prevent any upcoming LSAT scores from being released and law school reports from transmitting to requested law schools until you have absolved the outstanding balance.
  • If you stop payment on any check, or if any check is returned, a reporting hold will be placed on your file. No further reporting will be possible until you pay the outstanding balance.

Stopping payment will not withdraw your test registration.

Reporting Holds

A reporting hold on your file will not prevent you from taking the LSAT. However, the hold will prevent the release of your LSAT scores and all LSAT and CAS reporting to you and to law schools.
