How Score Preview Works

Test takers who purchase Score Preview will receive their score at the same time as other test takers (assuming they have an approved LSAT Argumentative WritingSM sample on file and have no holds on their accounts), and will have six (6) calendar days to decide if they want to cancel or keep their score. If no action is taken, their score will be added to their LSAC JD Account and released to law schools to which they have applied at the end of the six-day period.

Frequently Asked Questions

Since the LSAT is often given over multiple days, is the deadline for the $45 price the day before MY test session, or the day before the first test sessions of a given LSAT administration?

The deadline for the $45 price is the day before the first test session of a given LSAT administration, no matter when your own test is scheduled.

Score Preview deadlines for each upcoming administration are available at LSAT Dates, Deadlines, and Score Release Dates.

How long do I have to decide whether to keep or cancel my score?

Once you receive your score, you will have six (6) calendar days to decide whether to keep or cancel your score. For example, if you received your score on September 18, you would have until 11:59 p.m. ET, September 24, to decide whether to keep or cancel your score.

What if there is a hold on my score? Do I lose my six-day Score Preview opportunity?

The six-day score review opportunity starts when your score is released to you.

For example: The Score Release date for your test administration was September 18. However, you had a hold on your score due to a review of technical difficulties, so your score could not be released on that date. On October 2, the hold was lifted and your score was released to you. You would have until 11:59 p.m. ET on October 8 to decide whether to keep or cancel your score.

If I decide to cancel my score, does it count against my annual and lifetime test limits?

Yes. For more information on this policy, please visit Limits on Repeating the Test.

Is Score Preview available for LSAT—Puerto Rico takers?

Yes. Test takers who register for the LSAT—Puerto Rico will be able to purchase Score Preview through their LSAC JD Accounts.

If I decide to cancel my score through LSAT Score Preview, how will that be reflected in my LSAC JD Account?

It would be reflected as a Candidate Cancel, in the same way that a regular canceled score would be reflected.

What if I don’t decide I want to purchase Score Preview until after taking my test?

You will have the opportunity to purchase Score Preview for an additional fee after your test administration ends. Score Preview will be available for purchase starting the day after the last day of testing for your administration, until 11:59 p.m. ET the Monday before score release.

Score Preview deadlines for each upcoming administration are available at LSAT Dates, Deadlines, and Score Release Dates.

Can I purchase Score Preview for more than one test at a time?

If you are registered for more than one administration of the LSAT, please note that you can only purchase Score Preview for the next LSAT score release. For example, if you’re registered for the August and September administrations of the LSAT, you can only purchase Score Preview for August. After August scores are released, you can then purchase Score Preview for the September administration.
