Two groups of 8th graders from Santa Maria Middle School, 120 in each group, will visit the state capitol, one on Nov. 20, 2019, and one on Nov. 22. There, they will tour the capitol and hear from legislative staff and at least one legislator about the legislative process and the role of attorneys in legislation. Each group will be accompanied by up to five teachers and assistants. As a follow-up, law students and attorneys will visit the 8th grade classrooms on Dec. 13 to lead students in an interactive legal method lesson.
