Ronald A. Peterson Law Clinic

Seattle U Law’s acclaimed clinical program provides students with the opportunity to work on real cases with real clients who might not otherwise have legal representation. Under close faculty supervision, clinic students provide direct legal services to members of the local community, appear in court on clients' behalf, and deepen their understanding of legal doctrine and analysis.

Externship Program

Seattle U Law's robust Externship Program provides law students with the opportunity to gain valuable legal work experience while earning academic credit at their choice of over 500 externship sites. Externship opportunities range from placements at law firms, government agencies, and advocacy organizations in Seattle, across the country, and around the world.

Student Life

Student Organizations

Seattle U Law has over three dozen active student organizations to help students deepen their understanding of specific practice areas, promote collegiality, and network with legal professionals. Student groups include The Black Law Students Association, the Intellectual Property Law Society, OutLaws, the Latinx Law Students Association, the Public Interest Law Foundation, and the Veterans Law Society, among others.

Career Placement and Bar Passage

The Center for Professional Development (CPD) offers students a full range of career services, including resume review, interview preparation, on-campus interviews and career fairs, and networking opportunities with practitioners and alumni.

The Academic Resource Center (ARC) offers tools for academic success for all students. The faculty and staff of ARC engage in one-on-one counseling, offer class and examination preparation workshops, and provide a supplemental Bar Exam Program to help students in their final year of law school prepare for the bar examination.

Admission Decisions: Beyond the Numbers

Seattle U Law seeks candidates who demonstrate strong academic credentials and a desire to use their legal education for the betterment of their communities and the world. The Admission Committee engages a holistic review process, carefully considering each candidate's academic indicators, personal statements, transcripts, and letters of recommendation.

We also admit a cohort of candidates through our Access Admission Program, which recognizes applicants for whom test scores and GPAs may not be adequate predictors of success in law school and in the practice of law. Members of historically disadvantaged groups are among those individuals considered for this enhanced summer program, which introduces legal writing, legal analysis, and offers various opportunities to connect with alumni, legal practitioners, and judges from the Seattle legal community.
