Law School Admission Council, Inc. and its affiliates (collectively, “LSAC,” “we”, “our” or “us”) are committed to privacy and to transparency in our information practices. In this Cookie Notice, we explain how we use Cookies and your choices concerning Cookies used on our Websites (including but not limited to lsac.org, lawhub.org, lsac.zendesk.com, and lawschooltransparency.com, collectively referred to as “Websites”).

To fully understand how we collect, use, disclose, and process your Personal Information that we collect in relation to our Services, this Cookie Notice should be read in conjunction with our main LSAC Privacy Notice. Capitalized terms used in this Cookie Notice, which are not otherwise defined, have the meanings assigned to them in our main LSAC Privacy Notice.

What are Cookies?

Like most websites, we use Cookies and Similar Technologies to remember things about you so that we can provide you with a better experience.

• Cookies are small data files created and stored on your browser or device when you visit a website (“Cookies”). They may be served by the entity that operates the website you are visiting (“first-party Cookies”) or by other companies (“third-party Cookies”). • Web tags: Small pieces of code that we use to collect data from our Websites. When you perform a particular action on our Website(s), web tags capture relevant data and provide it to third parties, such as our third-party advertising and analytics providers.
• Pixels: Small images placed on our Websites or in our emails. Pixels are often transparent and collect information about your browser or device and can be used to set Cookies.
• Web beacons or tracker pixels: Pixels that we use to target ads and track your behavior on our Websites, such as page views, clicks, and ad interactions.
• Other storage technologies: Allow data to be stored locally on your browser or device, including but not limited to HTML5 local storage and browser cache.
• SDKs: Blocks of code provided by our service providers that may be installed in our mobile applications. SDKs help us understand how you interact with our mobile applications and collect certain information about the device and network you use to access the application.
• Device IDs: If you access our Websites using a mobile device, the advertising identifier associated with your device or other identifiers may be recorded and used for purposes similar to those of Cookies. We do not identify or record a device location without your specific permission.

How We Use Cookies

We use Cookies for a number of reasons, like helping us see which features are most popular, counting visitors to a page, improving our users’ experience, keeping our Services secure, and generally providing you with a better experience. The Cookies we use generally fall into one of the following categories.

Technical Cookies and Security Cookies are collectively referred to as “Necessary Cookies.”

In  some cases, LSAC and our service providers may match Personal Information collected through Cookies and Similar Technologies with other information, including Personal Information, collected from you through our Services or through their services to conduct our research and other internal work to maintain, improve, repair, or develop our Services, workforce, or technology and make advertisements more relevant and meaningful to you.

For example, when you use our Websites to create an LSAC account   or complete a purchase of an LSAC product or service (e.g., registering for the LSAT, subscribing to the Credential Assembly Service, etc.), we may collect Personal Information you enter into our registration forms (such as your name, email address, country of residence, zip code, etc.), and we and our third-party advertising and analytics providers (e.g., Google and Meta) may use Analytics Cookies and/or Advertising Cookies along with Similar Technologies (e.g., web beacons and other storage technologies) to collect or receive additional information, including Personal Information, from our Websites and elsewhere on the Internet, which we use to provide measurement services and to target and deliver ads . These Cookies and Similar Technologies de-identify your Personal Information and transmit your de-identified Personal Information to our marketing and advertising service providers.

Similarly, if you provide some of this Personal Information offline (e.g., if you provide Personal Information while creating an LSAC account over the phone), we may combine it with Personal Information and other information we collected from you online through Analytics Cookies and/or Advertising Cookies and Similar Technologies, and we may transmit the combined data to our marketing and advertising service providers in a de-identified format.

Our marketing and advertising service providers may use the de-identified Personal Information and other information we transmit to them in combination with other Personal Information and other information we collect from you through Analytics Cookies and/or Advertising Cookies and Similar Technologies (e.g., your IP address and geolocation data) and with Personal Information and other information they independently collected from you to help them and LSAC comply with applicable laws, determine the effectiveness of marketing and advertising services, and deliver advertisements that are more relevant and meaningful to you.

Information We Collect Using Cookies

The types of information, including Personal Information, we collect using Cookies vary depending upon the Cookie consent settings you choose. We may collect log information about your use of our Websites, including the type of browser you use, access times, pages viewed, links clicked, your IP address, search terms entered and the page you visited before navigating to our Websites. We may also collect information about the computer or mobile device you use to access our Websites, including the hardware model, operating system and version, and unique device identifiers.

Your Choices

You have a number of options to control or limit how we and our service providers use Cookies and Similar Technologies, including for advertising. We will only use Necessary Cookies unless you provide your consent for us to use other types of Cookies. • European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance: European users may opt out of receiving targeted advertising through the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance .
• Social Media Settings: To opt out of ads on Facebook, Pinterest, or Google that are targeted to your interests, use your Facebook , Pinterest , or Google Ads settings.
• Your mobile device: Check your mobile device for settings that control ads based on your interactions with the applications on your device. For example, on your iOS device, enable the “Limit Ad Tracking” setting, and on your Android device, enable the “Opt out of Ads Personalization” setting.
