About Thomas Jefferson School of Law
Thomas Jefferson School of Law’s Master of Laws (LLM) and Master of Science of Law (MSL) programs were established in 2008, and were the first online programs of their kind. These programs offer interactive graduate law courses and superior training from an ABA-accredited institution. Thomas Jefferson School of Law’s JD program is fully accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and is a member of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS).

LLM Programs/Areas of Specialization
Master of Laws (LLM)
The Thomas Jefferson School of Law offers an innovative graduate degree aimed at leaders who aspire to compete at a higher level. The online Master of Laws (LLM) degree program was designed specifically for busy business professionals who possess a Juris Doctor, and a Masters of Science of Law (MSL) for those with a college degree.
This online program offers three concentrations:
- Taxation
- Financial Services and Wealth Management
- Financial Compliance and Risk Management
Offered 100 percent online, the program allows professionals to advance their expertise and knowledge base by developing a unique, valuable skill set for solving problems, without sacrificing their careers.
LLM in American Legal Studies
The Master of Laws (LLM) program in American Legal Studies is a one-year degree program of 24 credits for candidates seeking a US law degree. It is designed for attorneys, judges, government officials, prosecutors, corporate legal counsel, bankers, and recent law graduates who have received their basic law degree outside the United States.
An LLM in American Legal Studies will appeal to foreign law graduates who wish to obtain comprehensive training in American legal practice and eventually use this training to find a job among the many competitive US law firms operating in foreign countries. With an LLM in American Legal Studies, foreign law graduates know that they will be more attractive to the high-paying US law firms operating and recruiting abroad.
Bar Eligibility
The American Legal Studies LLM degree can be crafted to meet the bar requirements of several states.
LLM in Practice Skills
The LLM in Practice Skills helps JD graduates meet increased demand for skills as an essential component of practicing law. Program participants will have the opportunity to develop and hone their skills in critical areas such as client interaction, document drafting, negotiating, litigating, and running a law firm, with a focus on any of the following core areas:
- Transactional Law
- Civil Litigation
- Criminal Practice
