Summary of Position

The Assistant Dean for Admissions serves as the chief enrollment management officer for UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law. Subject to the general direction of the Dean of UNH Franklin Pierce, and in collaboration with the admissions staff, Marketing and Communications Director, and Director of Finance and Administration, the Assistant Dean develops comprehensive recruitment, admissions and yield strategies and leads execution of those strategies in support of the law school’s enrollment goals.

Education Required: Bachelor’s
Education Preferred: JD
Years of Experience Required: 5-7
Years of Experience Preferred: Bachelor’s degree and at least five (5) years of progressively responsible admissions experience in a selective environment; OR Master’s degree and at least three (3) years of progressively responsible admissions experience in a selective environment

•Excellent written and oral communication skills
•Experience supervising and mentoring professional and support staff; excellent leadership and team-building skills
•Ability and willingness to travel on behalf of UNH Franklin Pierce (valid driver’s license)
•Understanding of tuition discounting and enrollment modeling
•Understanding of multi-channel marketing and recruitment strategies
•Understanding and experience in strategic planning

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• JD degree
• Law school admissions experience
• Experience with part-time and/or online programs
• Understanding of UNITE application management system
• Understanding of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
• Understanding of legal education on a regional and national level as demonstrated by significant
experience at other law schools, through service to the Law School Admission Council (LSAC), the
American Bar Association (ABA), regional prelaw advising organizations, and/or similar organizations
• Budget experience

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the Dean, develop annual enrollment goals for the residential and hybrid JD programs, to include:
    • Headcount
    • Net revenue
    • Median LSAT and GPA
    • Diversity of background and experience
    • STEM
    • Residency
  • In conjunction with the Dean and Assistant Dean for Graduate Admissions and International Outreach, develop annual enrollment goals for LL.M., Masters, and other related non-JD programs.
  • In conjunction with the Dean and relevant designees, develop annual enrollment goals for all other academic programs.
  • In conjunction with admissions staff and other relevant parties, develop and implement recruiting and yield plans to achieve enrollment goals, including:
    • In-person, print, and digital marketing
    • Candidate Referral Service (CRS)
    • On- and off-campus recruiting and yield events, including, eg, open houses, panel discussions, admitted students’ days, and alumni/student receptions
    • Student ambassador and faculty/alumni mentoring programs
    • Print and digital communication and engagement strategies for each phase of the application process
  • Collaborate with the Dean and the Marketing and Communications Director on marketing related to admissions; make recommendations for improvement and consistency with messaging and strategy.
  • In conjunction with the Dean and Director of Finance and Administration, develop, monitor, and revise scholarship/discounting strategy to achieve enrollment and net revenue goals.
  • Develop statistical models to predict enrollment outcomes and manage resources.
  • Develop and manage application review process to ensure timely file review and decision-making.
  • In conjunction with the Dean and Director of Finance and Administration, develop, monitor, and revise scholarship/discounting strategy to achieve enrollment and net revenue goals.

  • Draft admissions correspondence to include marketing communications, applicant correspondence, and decision notifications; oversee strategic use of CRM system.
  • Review applications for admissions; render decisions and award scholarships; manage scholarship negotiation requests.
  • Counsel prospective students on the admissions process, and share benefits of a UNH Law legal education.
  • Hire, train, motivate, and lead admissions staff.
  • Oversee and manage daily operations of admissions team, including travel
  • Conduct department performance evaluations and establish a culture of coaching for performance.
  • Develop and manage budget for the admissions office, including:
    • Scholarship
    • Payroll
    • Travel
    • Recruitment
    • Operations
    • Professional Development
  • Develop and/or modify reports to monitor enrollment funnel.
  • Serve on law school and university committees.
  • Participate in regional and national professional organizations such as LSAC,AALS,ABA, and prelaw organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
