LSAT Refunds

Refund Policy

LSAT fees are only partially refundable because processing costs are incurred in the registration process, regardless of whether you actually take the test.

Because of the large volume of registrations received, LSAC cannot prevent the processing of a registration once it is submitted. Refund policies apply to all methods of registration and are enforced without exception.

LSAC must receive your request by your administration’s Refund Request deadline. Requests received after the refund request deadline will not be processed.

Important

Refund request forms that are incomplete or missing a signature will not be processed. The refund request deadline will not be extended for those who have submitted an incomplete or unsigned request for processing.

Nonrefundable Fees

Late fees—Exception: If you missed the regular registration deadline for the upcoming LSAT because you were waiting for your score from the previous administration, you are eligible, upon request, for a refund of the late fee that you incur during the late registration period. (Read more)

After you register for the upcoming test, submit a written request for a refund of the late fee within 4 days after the late registration deadline. Please note that late fee refunds will be issued only to those who received a valid score for the prior administration. Refunds will not be issued to those who were absent, cancelled their score, or were dismissed from the test.

Please email your request to LSACrefunds@LSAC.org and insert Late Fee Refund in the subject line of the email.

Change of test date or center fees
Nonpublished test center fees
If you have been denied entry to your test center because of an unacceptable LSAT Admission Ticket photo or ID, you are not eligible for a refund.

How to Request a Partial LSAT Refund

Before your administration’s Refund Request deadline has passed, mail, fax, or email a signed and completed Refund Request Form (PDF) to

LSAC
PO BOX 2000-T
Newtown PA 18940

Fax: 215.968.1277
Email: LSACrefunds@LSAC.org

Your refund will take approximately three weeks to process, and your test registration will be canceled.

Please Note

If your administration’s Refund Request deadline has passed, you may still be able to change your test date. Otherwise, you may withdraw your registration to prevent the recording of an absentee notation on your file.

Credential Assembly Service (CAS) Refunds

Refund Policy

CAS fees are only partially refundable because processing costs are incurred in the registration process, regardless of whether you actually use the service.

Because of the large volume of registrations received, LSAC cannot prevent the processing of a registration once it is submitted. Refund policies apply to all methods of registration and are enforced without exception.

Eligibility

LSAC will issue a partial refund of your CAS fee if

  • a summary of your undergraduate record has not yet begun,
  • no letters of recommendation have been received,
  • no electronic applications have been sent to LSAC for processing, and
  • your CAS account has not expired.

How to Request a CAS Refund (US Only)

Mail, fax, or email a signed and completed Refund Request Form (PDF) to

LSAC
PO BOX 2000
Newtown PA 18940-0998

Fax: 215.968.1119
Email: LSACrefunds@LSAC.org

Your refund will take approximately three weeks to process, and your service will be canceled.

Credit Card Chargebacks, Stop Payments & Returned Checks

If you do a credit card chargeback

  • a reporting hold will be placed on your file, and
  • no further reporting will be possible until you pay the outstanding balance.

If you stop payment on any check, or if any check is returned

  • a reporting hold will be placed on your file, and
  • no further reporting will be possible until you pay the outstanding balance.

Stopping payment will not withdraw your test registration.

Reporting Holds

A reporting hold on your file will not prevent you from taking the LSAT. However, the hold will prevent the release of your LSAT score(s) and all LSAT and Credential Assembly Service reporting to you and to law schools.

If you order publications, shipping delays may result.

If the balance due is not settled, the reporting hold will carry over to subsequent LSAC files.
